Rid of Rodents — Mice and Rats, Gone for Good
Rid of Rodents targets the two things every NYC rat and mouse job comes down to: sealing how they're getting in, and treating the colony that's already inside. We work Queens' mix of pre-war co-ops and single-family blocks, Jackson Heights' dense garden-apartment rows, and the shared-wall pressure that moves rodents between units across Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Rodent Control Built for NYC Housing Stock
A one-time bait drop without exclusion just refills from the building next door. We inspect for active burrows and entry points first, seal what's letting rodents in, then treat and monitor — the sequence that actually holds. Serving Queens, Jackson Heights, Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Rat & Mouse Control
We control rats and mice by sealing the entry points they use to get in, removing the active population with targeted trapping and baiting, and proofing your property so they can't return.

Rat Extermination
We eliminate rats by treating the burrows and runways they actually use — foundations, tree pits, trash areas — with tamper-resistant exterior bait stations, then sealing entry points, because Norway rats are bait-shy and neophobic and respond to a patient, exterior-first approach that plain trapping alone can't match.

Mouse Extermination
We get rid of house mice by mapping every dropping trail and grease mark back to the nest, setting snap traps in pairs along the walls mice actually run, and sealing the dime-sized gaps around pipes and cabinets they're using to get in and out.

Rodent Proofing
Rodent proofing is the preventative work that keeps rats and mice out before they get in — sealing every gap a rodent could use with steel mesh, copper mesh and proper door sweeps, done as a standalone service for a property that hasn't had an active infestation but wants to stay that way.

Emergency Pest Control
Emergency pest control means a same-day response for situations that can't wait for a standard appointment — an active infestation discovered right before a move or inspection, a commercial kitchen facing closure risk, or a sudden, severe pest problem — with the same licensed treatment standard as any scheduled visit, just prioritised.

Recurring Pest Maintenance (IPM)

What New Yorkers say
Reviews for Expert Exterminating — the licensed company that handles every job booked through Rid of Rodents.
“I usually don’t write reviews, but this one’s well deserved. I’ve been living in my Manhattan apartment for over six years, and never once had an issue — until suddenly, I started waking up with strange bites. I spotted signs of bed bugs and honestly went into panic mode. I called them around 7:30 AM, someone answered right away, asked clear questions, and scheduled an inspection for that same afternoon. The technician (his name was Mike) was calm, professional, and extremely thorough. He explained the lifecycle of the bugs, the treatment plan, and what I needed to prep. The team showed up on time, full gear, respectful, and treated the apartment room by room. Within 48 hours, the bites stopped. They even offered a second visit two weeks later just to be sure — no charge. Highly, highly recommended.”
“Despite the chaos that bed bug infestations often bring, the team at Expert demonstrated an impressive level of precision and professionalism — their exterminator assessed the situation meticulously, implemented an effective treatment plan, and delivered results that far exceeded my expectations, restoring both comfort and confidence in my living space.”
“No drama, no delay — their bed bug exterminator service was clinical and quiet, like they were removing ghosts instead of bugs. Huge relief. Thank you so much guys.”
“It started with a single bed bug sighting and quickly spiraled into a nightmare, but thanks to this expert bed bug exterminator team, I felt seen, heard, and supported every step of the way — they were honest, transparent, and didn’t leave until the job was flawlessly done.”
“I’m from New York City in Manhattan and never trusted exterminators, but this crew redefined the word professional, knocking out rodents with surgical precision — best mouse exterminator I’ve had.”
“When a mouse exterminator leaves your home rodent-free and smelling fresh — you drop five stars without blinking. So trust me, they are really worth it. The change is massive.”

How much does it cost to get rid of mice or rats?
It depends on the extent of the infestation and how much exclusion work the property needs — a single apartment with light mouse activity is a different job from a building foundation with active rat burrows. We give a real number after a proper inspection rather than a phone-quote guess; ask us for a free estimate.
How do I know if I have mice or rats?
Droppings are the clearest tell: fresh rat droppings run 15-20mm and have a slight sheen, while mouse droppings are much smaller, closer to a grain of rice. Gnaw marks, grease rub marks along baseboards and walls, and scratching sounds at night are common to both — the exact species changes the treatment, so an inspection matters more than a guess.
Will sealing my apartment stop rats if my neighbours still have them?
It reduces the risk but doesn't eliminate it in a shared-wall building — rats and mice move between units through pipe chases and party-wall gaps. We can seal what we can access on your unit and flag building-wide entry points for the landlord or co-op board; a whole-building exclusion job holds far better than a single apartment on its own.
What areas do you serve?
We cover Queens (including Jackson Heights), Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.
Is one visit enough to get rid of rats?
Rarely. Rats are neophobic — wary of anything new in their environment — so bait uptake often doesn't start for 48-72 hours after placement, and a colony needs weekly checks over several weeks, not one visit. We monitor bait consumption and burrow activity until the pressure is actually gone, not just quiet for a week.
Do you do rodent-proofing, or just extermination?
Both, and exclusion is the part that makes the extermination stick. We identify entry points — foundation gaps, pipe penetrations, bulkhead doors, gaps under a half-inch which is all a rat needs — and seal them with steel mesh and proper materials, not expanding foam alone, which rodents chew straight through.
